IMD offers highly intensive, innovative, personalized and acclaimed 11-month life changing program which begins in January of each year. The MBA program in IMD is mainly focused on leadership, entrepreneurship and social responsibility. The 11 month program starts with the fundamentals of business explored thoroughly with case studies and lecture based classes. Simultaneously, the students have to work on start – up projects which will require the students to work in teams. The start up projects covers diverse sectors and issues. Then the students will have to work on International Consulting Project (ICP) and Discovery Expedition. The ICP allows students to work with top company managements on strategic issues. Since its inception in 1980, around 440 projects has been completed with 50% of them being repeat customers highlights its real value.
The experienced faculty of 60 member team represents 21 countries bringing with them research, teaching and consulting experiences. The school’s focus on year long leadership development involves writing a detailed autobiography, team building exercises, in depth self analysis to create self awareness and identification of your strengths and weaknesses by peers. The school gives an opportunity for the programmes to work directly with a start-up company, as well as with CEOs and board-level executives of global companies.
Once the candidate is a part of IMD, the school allows them to access to an Alumni Network with over 60,000 members working in 140 countries. IMD also has Corporate Learning Network of 180 global companies to share the knowledge and opportunities.
Every academic year the school accepts 90 candidates who have demonstrated leadership potential, global mindset and desire to make a difference. The school has an acceptance rate of 27%.Amongst the 90 participants; there will be approximately 40 different nationalities from all over the world. Even though the class starts in January of every year, the school has five different deadlines. The qualifications and experience required for being among the right 90 candidates are:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution
- GMAT (average score: 670, range is 620- 750)
- Minimum three years’ full-time work experience (the average work experience of accepted candidate is seven years)
- Strong command of written and spoken English and knowledge of an additional language
